Shame on me

Shame, Shame, Shame. All summer without an update. Well I have been busy with things. I got an internship with a magazine, creating their comic. I am an intern at FunTimes magazine located in Philadelphia. It has been fun, I get to collaborate with the creator of the magazine/comic on new editions, also work on some layouts for articles.

Swept

This weeks Illustration Friday entry, Swept. The mouse was swept from the house. I would never do that I would probably try and catch it in my hands and then take it outside.

My crazy dream last night

I had a crazy dream last night. It started off by me going down to Hell in an elevator, two elevators to be correct because one elevator wasn't long enough. I received my powers to become a witch there and then I was set off to collect other witches around the world. My dream fast forwards to some huge church where this girl was being confirmed or something religious, before the end of the ceremony I stand up and walked to the center of the church from the back. I was on fire but it was purple fire so I was okay and I began chanting some spell at the girl. After I was done chanting I ran at the girl grabbed her and threw her in the air and we flew to the roof and everyone ran out of the church. We flew off. We flew for awhile, until we found an empty house or so I thought. The house was fine until the owner came home, we argued about put an invisibility spell on. She said it wouldnt work because if they bumped into us he could tell we were there. But I did it anyway so we could collect our belongings. As we climbed out a window to leave I turned into a cat and could not fly anymore. I think I was left at the house as a cat and the other girl flew away. I think she turned me into a cat.

Then I woke up.

First post to Illustration friday

Everyone did it when they were little, cooked mud pies and dandelion pies for their stuffed animal friends and real friends. This is my first post for Illustration Friday, this was a quick doodle I caught this weeks topic a little late. I look forward to many more submissions.

Senior show

Everything came out very great for my senior show, all my wine bottles were how I wanted them to be, my wall went up perfect, it really added to my whole idea of a down home feel. There was a fantastic turn out of professionals, alume, and random walk ins. Our show at Moore College of Art and Design will be up from April 28th to May 14th. I have close up shots of my bottles here on my website. I want to thank Tomasello Winery for lending me a barrel for my display. I know the Tomasello Winery from working with them on their new products they have come out with in the past few years they had asked me to create artwork that went along with the flavors of their new Blueberry and Raspberry sparkling wines.

Ballon Bear on a Unicycle

Amazing Ballon Man at the Calloways Bar in Huntingdon Valley. He says he will take on any challenge. My next challenge for him is a bear in a kangaroo suit or a large pink mama kangaroo with a baby in her pouch. After looking at his site LiveBallons.com, I think he will do well.

New senior thesis

With a big push from a professor this semester I change my thesis from a story book about my dog to a wine company. I started off with so many directions for my labels, I did not want to do traditional labels I wanted to have fun, enjoy this stressful time with colorful, quirky images. They wrap around incorporating the entire bottle. My wine company turned into Appalachian Herbal Wines. I have five kinds; Wheat, Corn, Elderberry, Dandelion and Mushroom. All real wines made except for the mushroom but there are plenty of drinks made from fermented mushrooms, so I did it. I tired to give it a down home feel, like something you would make for fun.

Mushroom label (almost done)
circle area is where the label info will be placed

Wheat Label (almost done)
this one will be cut into four pieces to fit the square bottle it will be on.

Update on Children's book

First image for the book. Having so much fun with this process, I wish I had tried this way before. I have 30 more pages to fill up with these lushus, inky images.
Colors are so much richer in person, scanner just washed it all out.

Funky ink doodle that I did one late night when I needed to zone out. Now it has become an inspiration for my new senior thesis as well as the children's book I am re-illustrating for my children's book class. The book is How the leopard got his spots. hoping for a different look with these images, adding the story and then a searching activity too.
